Le Roy Jr.-Sr. High School

9-12 Principal Thomas Kopps Message

Dear Le Roy Community,

It is both an honor and a privilege to introduce myself as the High School Principal at Le Roy Jr./Sr. High School. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to become a part of this outstanding community and look forward to working in partnership with our students, families, staff, and community members.

Education has been my life's work for the past 42 years, and I have been fortunate to serve students and school communities in a variety of roles. I began my career as an elementary classroom teacher, spending nineteen wonderful years teaching students in grades one through five. Those years laid the foundation for my belief that strong relationships, high expectations, and a genuine commitment to students are at the heart of a successful school.

Following my time in the classroom, I served as an Elementary School Principal for four years before becoming a Jr./Sr. High School Principal for seven years. I then had the privilege of serving as a Director of Special Education for two and a half years before leading the Keshequa Central School District as its Superintendent for six and a half years.

After retiring in July 2022, I found that my passion for education and serving students remained as strong as ever. Since then, I have served in several interim leadership positions, including Interim Director of Special Education at Oakfield-Alabama Central School District, Interim Superintendent at Dansville Central School District, Interim High School Principal at Attica Central School District, and, most recently, Interim Jr./Sr. High School Principal here in Le Roy.

Each chapter of my career has been both meaningful and rewarding. I have been incredibly fortunate to work alongside dedicated educators, supportive families, and remarkable students in every community I have served. Those experiences have shaped my leadership philosophy and reinforced my belief that schools thrive when they work collaboratively with families and the community they serve.

Today, I am excited to begin the next chapter of my career as the High School Principal at Le Roy. It is a privilege to continue serving this wonderful school community, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to do so for the foreseeable future.

Every day, I have the privilege of working alongside an exceptional faculty and staff whose dedication to students is evident in all they do. Together, we are committed to providing a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment that challenges students to grow academically, socially, and personally while preparing them to become responsible, compassionate, and productive members of their communities.

I look forward to getting to know our students, meeting many of you at school events throughout the year, and working together to ensure that every student has the opportunity to succeed. Thank you for the warm welcome I have already received. I am honored to be a part of the Le Roy family and excited about all that we will accomplish together.  Warm regards,

Thomas K. Kopp
